When the 5th Army, commanded by Gen Mark Clark, landed at Salerno on 8th Sept 1943, the US Rangers and the British Commandos were given the vital task of securing the high passes between Naples and the landing beaches in the Bay of Salerno. This programme covers the actions of Col Darby's US Ranger Force as they stopped the attacks of the Herman Goering Panzer Div on the left flank of X (Br) Corps.
